The last week of a Diablo 4 season always sneaks up faster than expected. One minute you're farming bosses, the next you're wondering what happens to your characters, gold, and stash full of D4 items you swore you'd sort out later. The good news is that your seasonal heroes don't vanish. They move over to the Eternal Realm with their level, skills, Paragon setup, equipped gear, gold, Obols, and crafting materials still in place. Account progress, including Altars of Lilith, map discovery, and renown rewards, also stays with you, so you're not starting from zero on that side of the game.



What Happens To Your Stash
The stash is where players get caught out. Seasonal stash tabs don't simply pour into your Eternal stash, because that would create a proper mess. Instead, the game places those items into a temporary "Last Season" withdraw-only tab on the Eternal Realm. You can take items out, but you can't put anything back in. That means it's worth logging in after the season ends and doing a real clean-up. Keep the pieces that matter: strong Uniques, rare rolls you might actually use, good Legendary Aspects, and gear with stats that are hard to replace. The rest? Be honest with yourself. Most of it is probably salvage material.



What You Can Lose
That withdraw-only tab isn't long-term storage. It lasts until the next season ends, and then anything left inside is deleted. No support ticket will bring it back. This is the part many players forget, especially if they take a break for a few months. Seasonal-only currencies, special quest items, and mechanics tied to that specific season also don't carry forward in a useful way. If an item only existed because of a temporary feature, don't expect it to become part of your permanent collection. Before you walk away, pull out anything you care about and make room for it properly.



Getting Ready For The Next Start
Once your old characters are safe, it makes sense to think about the next launch. You don't need a spreadsheet for everything, but having a rough plan helps a lot. Pick a class early, check which leveling builds look strong, and learn what stats matter before endgame gear starts dropping. A Barbarian player might look at Whirlwind or Hammer of the Ancients. A Sorcerer player may care more about early mana control and survivability. Tempering and Enchanting can also make the early game feel much smoother, especially when you're trying to patch up Armor, Resistances, or damage before your build fully comes online.



Playing The Launch With Other People
Season launches are better when you're not doing everything alone. Clans, Discord groups, and friend lists usually get busy before the patch even goes live. People plan routes, split dungeon farming, and set times so nobody is waiting around. It's also a decent moment to compare builds, trade advice, and decide which drops are worth chasing, whether you're farming naturally or checking markets that list D4 items for sale as part of your broader preparation. A little coordination saves a lot of wasted time once the servers open and everyone rushes into the new season.
